Car Insurance Plymouth (Car Insurance). what does REBUILT MOTOR mean?what does REBUILT MOTOR mean? if the cars mileage meter says 114,530 but has a rebuilt motor and is only 12,984 miles on it, which number counts? what does it mean to have a rebuilt motor. Im trying to buy a car with low mileage but idk what the two numbers mean... it means that they have took the engine apart and put in new rings, pistons, the whole nine yards they rebuilt it with brand new parts so the car has 114k miles but the engine was freshly rebuilt with 12k on it so they have 2 different miles. what most people say. every car you go to buy many people will say the engine is rebuilt when it hasnt. can they show u papers for this?? 12k miles isnt that much ud think they have papers. alot of ppl like to make it sound good now days and just say engine has been rebuilt but ethier way it sounds good and runns good like a rebuilt one soo dont matter. just listen to it and test drive it. thats alll that matters. at the worst it might actualy have 114k miles which isnt that bad if its took care of. it means it's a used motor that's been reassembled with new pistons/cams, possible block honing etc - sometimes a rebuilt engine can be as good as a new one, but it's very dependant on who rebuilt it. Well those numbers mean the engine should still have lots of like left in it assuming the rebuilt motor was done properly. However the rest of the car's components still have 114 thousand miles on them.If the engine has 12k miles on it chances are good the rebuild was a good one.A problem with a rebuilt motor would probably shown up before that many miles got put on it.Depending on the type of car it should still have life left in it.Be aware though when you start getting to the 114k mileage anything can go wrong. There's still a lot of expensive components that could fail.My advice is to take it to a good mechanic and have him check the car over carefully before you buy it. The higher number counts...the fact that they even told you the real number proves it. Rebuilt motors are the result of the engine breaking or ceasing up. They take it apart, replace parts, and reassemble it. It is usually a warning sign of a crappy vehicle but that is not a certainty. Take it to a mechanic and get an opinion. The lesser miles number is miles after the engine repair. 12,984 means that,s how many miles been put on the engine after it been overhauled. when they rebuild the engine they put stuff like rings, bearings, head gaskets, intake gasket and timing chain replaced. they keep your block and heads. all they do is clean them up. It means different things to different people. Generally speaking it means the engine internals got f-ed for some reason (in most cases with this mileage I'd say boost) and they had to replace parts to get it working again. There is a HUGE difference between "rebuilt" and "remanufactured" motor and the terms applies to just about anything.... Auto parts : Vapor Canister Acura 1995 . How do you bring down the price of gas.? How do you bring down the price of gas.? The reason the oil companies keep raising the price of gas is that they are going to see how high they can go before people stop buying it.in economics I think they call it market elasticity. If everybody would park their cars for a week the price of gas would drop. If the people would say no we wont buy it at 4 bucks then they will bring it down to where we will buy. What is the chance of everybody doing this? 00%. What if half the people would refuse to buy at these prices? After all this is the beauty of capitalism. car insurance. Plymouth . How to Reset the Power Door Battery on a Toyota SiennaIf the power doors on your Toyota Sienna stick or stop responding, you may need to recalibrate the doors by resetting the power door system. You can reset the power door system at home to save the time spent at a dealership service center. Resetting the system will reprogram the battery and computer chip so that the doors respond to the door controls. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Press the sliding door control button on the Sienna's dashboard so that the red line on the button is illuminated. Close the sliding doors. 2 Raise the hood of the van, and disconnect the negative ("-") battery cable with a wrench. Wait 3 to 5 minutes, then reconnect the cable. 3 Press the "Open" button on the remote key fob to open the sliding doors. Close the door. Wait 10 seconds, then open the door with the remote again. 4 Close the door, and wait 10 seconds. Open the door with the remote a third time. Once the third cycle completes, the power door battery is reset.
Plymouth . Instructions for a Timing LightMost internal combustion engines that are fired by spark plugs require that the engine timing be set properly so that the engine can operate efficiently and return good fuel economy and performance. If the spark is not timed to reach the cylinders correctly, the engine may run sluggishly, may produce spark, knock, or not run at all. The average backyard mechanic can check the timing of such an engine by using a timing light. Timing lights are available at auto parts stores and where tools are sold. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Repair manual for your vehicle Piece of chalk Timing Light Step by Step : 1 Turn the ignition key off and open the hood. 2 Locate the number one spark plug, which is usually located on the first cylinder at the front of the block for inline motors or at the front of the driver's side bank of cylinders for "V" type motors. Consult a repair manual for your particular vehicle if you are not sure where the number one cylinder is located on your engine. 3 Squeeze the handles together on the clamp on the inductive pickup lead on your timing light (usually the largest of the three clamps on a timing light) and place it over the spark plug wire on your engine's number one cylinder. Release the handles and the clamp should stay firmly in place. 4 Squeeze the handles of the red alligator clip on the timing light and place it over the positive battery terminal, then release the handles. Place the black alligator clip onto a large metal surface in the engine compartment, such as the alternator bracket or other similar part, but do clamp it to fuel system parts such as fuel lines, pumps or injectors. 5 Consult a repair manual for your vehicle to determine the correct engine timing specifications. Locate the stationary timing mark indicator near the engine crankshaft pulley at the front of the engine. Make a chalk mark on the graduated scale of the indicator that corresponds to the correct timing for your engine. Find the timing mark the crank shaft pulley and make a chalk mark on it, as well. 6 Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature, which usually takes about fifteen minutes. Check to make sure the upper radiator hose is hot if you are not sure, which indicates operating temperature has been reached. 7 Aim the timing light at the chalk marks you made on the timing indicator and the crankshaft pulley and depress the trigger. Adjust the timing as described in an auto repair manual for your vehicle if the two chalk marks do not line up when the trigger is depressed. Continue to make adjustments and check the timing with the light until the two marks line up. 8 Turn the ignition key off. Disconnect the timing light from the engine in the reverse order and close the hood. *" If your engine is carbureted, your fuel filter is located in the fuel line between the fuel pump and the carburetor. Most fuel filters on carbureted engines are close to the carburetor. And some (like those in General Motors vehicles) have a fuel filter inside the carburetor inlet. To get to these fuel filters, you have to remove the air cleaner that sits on top of the carburetor. Doing so is easy if you follow the instructions in "Removing Your Air Cleaner," earlier in this chapter. Externally mounted fuel filters consist of a little metal or plastic cylinder with an internal pleated paper filter element like the one shown in Figure 13-2. Figure 13-2: A fuel filter near a carburetor. On some vehicles, the fuel filter is held in place by metal clamps on either side of it, either in the fuel line or in the carburetor inlet fitting. This is called an in-line filter. Some vehicles have the fuel filter inside the carburetor or fuel pump, but getting at these integral filters is no more difficult. (In-line and integral filters are illustrated in Figure 13-3.) Some fuel filters on fuel-injected engines require special tools to disconnect the fuel lines. Don't use a drop light with an incandescent bulb when changing a fuel filter. Fuel that drips on the bulb can cause it to break and start a fire. Use a flashlight if you need to shed some light on the subject. Again, go for well-known brands at discount prices. Take a look at Figure 13-4, and buy new gear-type clamps, too, if yours look old, rusty, brittle, or are the wire-ring type. Changing fuel fitters onfuel-injected engines This job is more complicated than replacing the fuel filter on a carbureted car. You need to disable the fuel pump to relieve the pressure on the lines and the fuel lines may be secured to the filter with clamps, threaded fittings, or special quick-connect fittings. If the lines have threaded fittings, you need a special flare-nut line wrench. If the lines have special quick-connect fittings, you may need to purchase special tools to disconnect them. Ask the clerk at an auto parts store or the service department at your dealership which type of filter your vehicle has. If doing this infrequent job requires purchasing special tools, it's probably cheaper to have it done by a technician. If not, the following instructions will guide you through the job: 1. Relieve the pressure in the fuel line before disconnecting the line. To do so, you have to disable the electric fuel pump before you start the engine. To disable the fuel pump, do the following: 1. It won't run very long after you start it up, but the pressure in the lines will be reduced. 3. Turn off the engine. With the fuel pump disabled, you're ready to disconnect the fuel lines Plymouth .
